" I am the delighted recipient of the gorgeous "Red Shoes" scarf which was commissioned as a present. Your execution has made it a beautiful and totally covetable thing and I absolutely adore it. I shall wear it next week to the Gala performance of The Red Shoes at Sadler's Wells. Thank you for the obvious care, quality and attention to detail that went into making it. I shall take very good care of it! "

Happy Customer - Joan

As a silk artist, I keep an eye on what is happening in the world of silk. I discovered Eco Printing or Botanical Printing and I was hooked. Instead of using silk dyes and my paintbrush I use natural dyes and plants with a dash of Chemistry. It is all about slow fashion, going back to nature and sustainability. As such, it’s a “thing” to use preloved silks so you are not adding to the mountain of waste and destruction caused by the Fashion Industry.

So, off I went to seek out some preloved silk and could not believe the amount of discarded clothing and waste that I came across. I was so horrified that I was compelled to do something about it and so, by accident, I started a new business, Sustainable Silks. I now rescue the silk clothing to eco print or paint and sell it on to happy, brand new owners. As 20 tonnes of textiles go to landfill every single day, I have started to rescue Designer labels as well. The beautiful nature that inspires all my work cannot thrive on landfill, so although there is a different “vibe” to that of hand-painted silk, it makes complete sense to me, and I hope to you. Please follow my Instagram page, @janewilliamssilks (link below) to see how I do all my artwork and my scarves, and now you can snatch yourself a fabulous bargain while saving the world, one silk at a time.

Here are the last six posts from my Instagram feed, looking forward to seeing you there.
